June 2016:

The ASA Annual Science Meeting is 3-8 July, and the ASA Early Career Researcher chapter will be running two events at the meeting.

On Monday 4th July at 18:30 in the lecture hall we will host a speed meet-a-mentor event together with the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity in Astronomy (IDEA) chapter. This is a great opportunity to meet senior colleagues and begin to develop new relationships and networks. In addition, we have invited a number of former academic astronomers who have moved into other careers to be part of the mentoring group, and we hope that they will be a very good resource for you. Speed meet-a-mentor is open to everyone regardless of whether you are a member of the ASA or the ECR Chapter, so please plan to be there. There will be refreshments.

On Tuesday 5th July at lunchtime we will have our annual chapter meeting. This is an opportunity for us to tell you about our plans for the upcoming year, and to collect your thoughts on what we can do to be a benefit to you. Student, ECR and senior members of the Chapter are all invited.

These positions are open to all Chapter members, except for the student representative (open to students only) the senior representative (open to our senior or “mentor” members only). Existing Steering Committee members can renominate if they wish. Please contact David Parkinson to nominate.
